Boy&GurL are a passion-pop duo, formed by Alberta singer/songwriters Boy, Jarred Nicklen and GurL, Crystal McGrath. Previous to this endeavor, Jarred and Crystal have both had solo careers where they had the opportunity to grow and evolve in their own singing and songwriting abilities. As well as music, they both also share a passion of giving back to the world and have used their music as an inspirational tool for charities and non profit organizations such as “The Boy’s and Girl’s Club”, “Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation”, “AIDS Calgary”, “Calgary Scope Society” and “The Salvation Army”. In 2011 they founded their own charity called “Write2Dream” to help subsidize funding for music workshops and inspirational courses to be made available to anyone who is wanting to learn to write and to be creative.
In April 2009 Boy&GurL released their first EP entitled “Loves Parallel” followed by the release of their full length album “Love Crimes” in September 2010. “Love Crimes” features the top 40 singles "Around Again (Remix)" and “Over”,produced by Russell Broom(Jann Arden). To help promote the albums they have toured Canada, the U.S. and Mexico as well have done many TV and radio interviews and have even co-hosted on AMP radio in Calgary. In November of 2010 they released a holiday song entitled “Love in the Wurld”. In the last two years Boy&GurL have had the opportunity to share the stage with Ani Difranco, Lights, David Usher, Suzie McNeil, Bedouin Soundclash and Wide Mouth Mason. They are currently in the recording studio once again recording new material for their next release for 2012.
